How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time!
(No offense, Amy! I mean, really, who would want to eat an elephant?)

Proud Parents!

Both girls brought home their report cards today with top marks. We couldn't be more proud of them! It is such a joy to watch them grow up (or at least it is when they're not aggravating each other!). Of course part of me wants to keep them little forever, but I know that's not possible. They are such a blessing to us!

French Funny

We were watching the Weather Channel after school (snow/freezing rain in the forecast), and when Mlle A. turned off the television, she said in a faux French accent that "Zee teevee eez off." What made it so funny to me is that her "off" sounded like "oeuf," the French word for egg. Silly, I know, but it struck my funny bone. Too bad her maman never seems to find time to teach the girls to parler francais!

Why scrapbook?

Right now, my Mom & I are taking a class over at Bigpicturescrapbooking.com called "Get Organized & Be Inspired", and it's based on the book The Organized & Inspired Scrapbooker and taught by the author. Our project last week was to create our "mission statement" (and as soon as I get mine finished I'll post it). This poem came into my inbox this week from a different source, but couldn't have come at a better time. It's an oldie but goodie.

Maybe you've thought about scrapbooking and aren't sure that it's for you. I'll be the first to say that it's not for everyone, BUT if you take pictures or keep pictures you've been given, think about this poem.

Strangers in The Box by Pam Harazim
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, and serene.

I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories,
Are lost among my socks.

I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.

If only someone had taken time,
To tell who, what, where and when,
These faces of my heritage,
Would come to life again.

Could this become the fate,
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories,
Someday to be passed away?

Take time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours,
Could be strangers in the box.

(If you ever decide you'd like to start scrapbooking, let me show you how!)

P.S. I Love You

My sister decided we needed a girls' night out, so off to the movies we went. (I know, such party animals! She's pregnant, and I guess I'm old.) Neither of us knew what to expect (other than a total chick flick), and we were totally blown away by P.S. I Love You. Take your tissues if you go. You won't be disappointed. In fact, I'm thinking about reading the book, and I have NEVER read the book after watching the movie made from the book. Normally it's the other way around. Chicas, go see it!

The Tooth Fairy Strikes Again!

We're home again for the 3rd straight day due to the snow. At least today it is getting above freezing so that this white stuff can "get gone."

Last night, Miss M. called to me from the bathroom to tell me that she pulled her very loose tooth herself! She was incredibly excited to have pulled it out ("just like Mommie & JC," the other tooth-pulling professionals).

SNOW DAY!

It started snowing about 11 PM last night and the official call came in at 12:30 AM: SNOW DAY!

Should I feel guilty that I'm as glad as the kids that there's no school today? And with a high of only 20 degrees, it doesn't look like the white stuff is going away today. Darn.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

May 2008 find you healthy and happy!!!

We enjoyed a quiet New Year's Eve. Miss A. spent the night with a friend, so M., Daddy, & I grilled out and watched a movie. I'm the only one who saw the ball and the peach drop (thanks to starting a new book last night). ;)

Today, we'll all be heading to DH's mom's for a traditional New Year's Hoppin' John for health, wealth, and happiness in '08.
