On Edge Challenge with Find Your Style

365 Cards is a fun card challenge blog. A recent challenge (Day 318) is to use a paper punch to create a patterned border on just the front edge of your card. How fun and easy is that?

Since I still had my Find Your Style stamp set and Wings paper out, I had to play. I used the same sketch again that I used for the H2H Sky & Pear challenge (Wishes "Simply Said") but turned it like the pattern shows in the book.

To begin, I sprayed my 8"x3.5" card base twice with my spray pen filled with alcohol, Vineyard Berry reinker, and a few drops of Create-a-Shade pearl paint. (Click HERE to learn how.) While I let it dry, I attached the strip of B&T to the side edge of my card and stamped "Beautiful" and "Friend" in Colonial White ink on the Vineyard Berry piece. My card base dried in the time it took me to clean out my spray pen, so I was ready to put it all together, stamp the dress form, and punch the edge. I decided to add the strip of Vineyard Berry cardstock on the inside of my card to give the punched edge a bit more panache. To finish off the card, I threaded a black button with hemp and then added a "string" of Pearl Opaques to make a necklace. What do you think?

  2. very pretty card. love the border punching. it really suits the paper.
I have a question about the spray pen.
I just got mine with my January Wings WOTG kit and before I use it I want to know if I should fill the container as full as I can or just enough to barely spritz my page. The instructions say to add product to certain lines on the container and then say to rinse it out when done . Do they mean we have to discard the rest or do we have to save it in another kind of container.Do you rinse the entire container out after each use? or do you just rinse out the sprayer part and then replace it into the base that still has the ink and paint mix. It seems a real waste of product if we have to empty and rinse the entire unit out each time.
    please advise.
    thanks

  3. Deb, I'm happy to try to help. If you follow the video instructions, you have TONS of spray- and a little goes a long way. I would either make up a small batch or (and this has worked so far for me) rinse the sprayer really well and recap. I am wondering about taking the sprayer out and covering the opening with saran and a rubber band. You don't want the paint to dry in the nozzle (been there, done that!). HTH!
