Happy New Year! Are you ready for 2015?!? We have some great challenges planned over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge blog. Our first challenge of the year is "old is new." It's time to re-purpose something old into something new- or use something old in a new way.
My project is something that I had been wanting to make for a long time, especially after seeing a similar item in a local store for $30 (!!!!). I took an OLD map and cut out our hometown to place in a NEW pendant. Both my husband and my daughter liked the addition of the red shimmer trim heart. All it took was a little liquid glass to piece the pendant together, and then I added the base & bling charms. (Click HERE to see the Base & Bling line.)
Be sure to check out how all of the talented H2H designers have interpreted this challenge. I bet you've got something old that you'd like to make new. Won't you join us? You have all month to give it a try!
I love how you personalized this! Now I'm thinking ... it would work for a city someone loves to visit like "I left my heart in San Francisco" or Paris or New York City -- anywhere! And actually my first thought was "teacher's gift." Could use a photo of the school or classroom or the town where she teaches. I like this a lot. So many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pendant. Maybe i will do this idea and make them into magnets
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea! I have some Base and Bling products here that I have been meaning to get around to working with and this may just be my inspiration to do that!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE...did I say LOVE!!! I absolutely LOVE maps but once you buy a sheet of "map paper" it's gone in one project...I never thought to use an actual map (or even print one of the internet) 'till I saw your project!!! The antiqued gold works so well for this project too! And LOVE the red heart!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea. I love, love this!
ReplyDeleteGreat necklace. You are so creative!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea- I am so pinning this to use as a gift idea!
