CTMH Technique Blog Hop: Crazy About Cardstock

Close To My Heart has update our cardstock so that it is two toned!  I am really loving the versatility this provides!  This technique blog hop is showcasing this gorgeous new cardstock.  (If you're already hopping then you've arrived from Melissa's blog.  From here, you'll visit Jana next.)
The Thoughtful Bird stamp set was the first one on my wish list when I saw the new 2017-18 Annual Inspirations catalog and idea book!  To create the bird, I stamped the base in Glacier, the middle stamp in Lagoon, then the beak and legs in Saffron, and finished with the top layer in Peacock.
On top of my White Daisy card base, I layered a 4"x5.25" panel of Glacier cardstock.  Then I cut 1/4" strips of Lagoon (the lighter shade is the back side and the darker shade is the actual color) and Peacock card stock.  I knew that I wanted to include some shimmer trim, but unfortunately Teal was retired.  What to do? Grab some white and a ShinHan Twin Touch alcohol marker!
First, I cut the shimmer trim in (sort of) half lengthwise to get a skinnier piece.  I had to tape it to my cutter base to secure it in place with a small piece of clear tape.
After slicing it to the width I wanted, I used the Peacock Green marker (the best match to Lagoon, in my opinion).  Set it aside for a while to dry.
I colored my clear bitty sparkles the same way!
My card is based on the current Heart2Heart Challenges August sketch (turned and rotate a bit).

  1. Beautiful! Love the color choices for the bird.

  2. LOVE your card! The colors on the bird are beautiful. Your tips on cutting and coloring the glitter are great.

  3. What a beautiful card! Love your color choices and the fun diagonal strips.

  4. Love, love your card. I too love the bird and have it, now I need to use it! The two-toned CS really works great on this card with the colored shimmer trim. FYI: When I cut down my shimmer trim, I remove the protective strip and stick it directly to my cutter. It lifts great and I adhere the part I'm not using to a firm plastic/slick surface for future use.

  5. Beautiful card...great job stamping the bird. Thanks for the included tips!

  6. Great idea using ShinHan colors on white glitter tape to match your colors...thanks for sharing that...Haley, beautiful card.

  7. I love how versatile ShinHan markers are, and thanks for the tip about taping down the shimmer trim. That's brilliant!

  8. Thank you for the great card, love it. After reading your
Bio I would like to know how you do it, but you just do and we are
all the luckier for it. Mary
